Some Lesser Known Facts

Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav is a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army who received the Param Vir Chakra for exceptional bravery in the Kargil War. He survived 12 bullets and played a crucial role in capturing Tiger Hill.
Yogendra, son of a retired Indian Army soldier, was inspired by stories of brave soldiers. His brother's induction into the Armed Forces motivated him to join as well.
Despite his mother's wishes for him to pursue a different career, Yogendra's determination led him to clear the Armed Forces exam on his first attempt.
Yogendra joined the Indian Military Academy in 1996 and graduated at the age of 16, becoming a Sainik in the Indian Army.
Married for only 15 days, he reported for duty during the Kargil War with 2.5 years of experience.
Yogendra's battalion captured Tololing Top, where many soldiers lost their lives, including two officers and two JCOs.
Part of the Ghatak Platoon, he led the assault on Tiger Hill and sustained multiple bullet injuries during combat.
Despite being shot 12 times, including once in the heart, Yogendra's bravery led to the capture of Tiger Hill.
Initially announced posthumously, Yogendra received the Param Vir Chakra after it was discovered that he survived.
Yogendra is one of three living recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, alongside Bana Singh and Sanjay Kumar.
His valor and gallantry during the War made him a symbol of bravery under extreme conditions.
In January 2021, Yogendra Singh Yadav appeared on a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati with Subedar Sanjay Kumar, another Param Vir Chakra recipient.
