Wanindu Hasaranga started playing cricket at the age of twelve. Initially a fast bowler, he evolved into an all-rounder with a passion for fielding.
In 2014, his talent shone in inter-school cricket when he caught 12 catches in a match.
Encountering Coach Lamkal de Silva led Hasaranga to switch to leg spin bowling.
He debuted in domestic first-class cricket on 26 February 2016, scoring 87 runs in the first innings.
November 30, 2015, marked his debut in domestic one-day cricket, later playing for various teams.
