Wahab received coaching from Aaqib Javed to transform from a medium fast bowler to a genuine fast bowler.
At just 16 years old, he made his first-class debut for Lahore Whites against Peshawar in 2002.
In 2010, during his Test debut against England at The Oval, he took 5 wickets for 63 runs.
He achieved a hat-trick in a county match by dismissing Chris Taylor, Ed Young, and Richard Coughtrie.
In a 2013 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy game, he accomplished another hat-trick by dismissing Ahmed Shehzad, Adnan Akmal, and Waqas Ahmed.
Wahab surpassed all bowlers in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 by bowling at a speed of 154.5 km/hr.
Despite his daughter being unwell in a Pakistan hospital, he played for Lahore Lions in the 2014 Champions League T20.
