Tushar Deshpande is an Indian cricketer representing Mumbai in domestic cricket and playing for the India A team. Delhi Capitals purchased him for Rs. 20 lakhs in the 2020 Indian Premier League auction at his base price.
He began his cricket journey with the U-16 and U-19 Mumbai teams, training at the renowned Shivaji Park Gymkhana in Dadar, Mumbai, which has nurtured legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.
Born and raised in Kalyan, Mumbai, Tushar commutes for hours daily to practice at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana despite participating in various tournaments.
In 2017, Tushar Deshpande's mother, Vandana Deshpande, fought ovarian cancer but sadly succumbed to the disease in 2019 while he was playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League. He dedicated his performance in the match to his late mother.
He made his List A cricket debut for Mumbai during the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and achieved his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket during a quarter-final game.
In August 2019, Tushar was selected for India Blue team’s squad in the 2019-20 Duleep Trophy. He was acquired by Delhi Capitals for the 2020 IPL season.
Apart from cricket, Tushar is passionate about traveling and enjoys spending his leisure time trekking in the mountains.
On 12 June 2023, Tushar Deshpande got engaged to Nabha Gaddamwar, his school-time crush. Shivam Dube and his wife, Anjum Khan, attended the engagement ceremony to congratulate the couple.
