Raina hails from a Kashmiri Pandit family in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir.
He spent much of his childhood in a hostel, away from home.
Raina began his professional cricket career in 1999 at the sports college in Lucknow.
He captained the Under-16 Uttar Pradesh cricket team.
Raina has a collection of 250+ cricket bats, including the first one gifted by his father in 1998.
At the age of 16, he played his first Ranji Trophy game.
On his ODI debut in 2005, Raina got out for a 'Golden Duck' against Sri Lanka.
During a 2013 Tri-Series ODI against West Indies, he had a disagreement with Ravindra Jadeja.
He scored a century on his Test debut.
Raina has never missed a match for 'Chennai Super Kings.'
He lent his voice to the song 'Tu Mili Sab Mila' for the 2015 Bollywood film 'Meeruthiya Gangsters.'
Apart from cricket, Raina can also play the saxophone.
