Sulaiman Merchant is an accomplished Indian music director and score composer.
He is well-known for his collaboration with his brother, Salim Merchant, forming the duo Salim-Sulaiman.
Inspired by his father, Sulaiman began learning music in his youth.
He received training in Tabla from renowned musicians Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
Sulaiman embarked on his music career at the age of 16, initially composing for TV ads, documentaries, and pop albums.
In 1977, Sulaiman and his brother Salim composed the background score for the movie "Hameshaa."
Sulaiman gained recognition for his work on the background music of the film "Bhoot."
He has composed music for various successful Bollywood films such as "Dhoom," "Krrish," and "Fashion."
Sulaiman also created Bollywood remixes of Lady Gaga's songs "Born This Way" and "Judas."
Among his many compositions, Sulaiman's favorite is 'Ali Maula' from the movie "Kurbaan."
His original surname was Molddina, but he changed it to Merchant when his uncle relocated to Australia.
