Sukesh Hegde is an accomplished Indian kabaddi professional who has played for teams like Telugu Titans, Gujrat Giants, Tamil Thalaivas, Bengal Warriors, and Patna Pirates.
He is also an employee at the Bank of Baroda.
His kabaddi journey began in primary school, where he transitioned from the athletics team to the Kabaddi team.
In 2013, Sukesh Hegde joined the national Karnataka team and represented them for over 8 years, earning a bronze at the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championship in 2017 after training at the Pro Kabaddi League’s Indian camp in 2014.
Telugu Titans selected him during the 2014 Pro Kabaddi League season where he achieved his highest raid score, and he captained the Gujarat Fortune Giants in the fifth PKL season in 2017.
Sukesh was a crucial part of India’s gold-winning team at the 12th South Asian Games in 2016.
He credits the growth of kabaddi in South India to the presence of South Indian players in the Pro Kabaddi League, breaking the sport's northern stereotype.
During university, he trained extensively for kabaddi, practicing with juniors for hours as seniors limited their playtime.
Sukesh Hegde considers Manjeet Chillar as the toughest defender he faced in PKL matches.
Despite facing challenges like being benched during Season 5 finals for the Gujarat Fortune Giants, the incident was one of the toughest moments of his life.
