In January 2021, she set the women’s T20 record for the fastest century, scoring 100 runs in 36 balls for Wellington Blaze against Otago Sparks.
Her passion for sports was instilled by her father and brother, who were also sports enthusiasts, leading her to engage in various sports during her childhood.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 15, Sophie Devine has shown resilience in her sporting career.
So far, Devine has played 36 tests for the Black Sticks and represented New Zealand in the 2011 Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy in the Netherlands.
She transitioned to focusing on cricket full-time after securing the NZC development contracts in 2013.
