Career Posting(s)	Sheikh Darvesh Saheb cleared the UPSC examination in 1990 and was allotted the Kerala cadre in the Indian Police Services (IPS) Officer on 16 September 1991. He began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Nedumangad. After completing his two-year probation period, he was confirmed as an IPS Officer on 16 September 1993. Saheb served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in various districts, including Wayanad, Kasaragod, Kannur, Palakkad, Railways, and State Special Branch. He also held positions as Commandant in the Malabar Special Police (MSP) and Kerala Armed Police (KAP) 2nd Battalion. He served as Governor's Aide-De-Camp (ADC) and participated in the United Nations Peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. He worked as the Kochi City Police Commissioner in SP rank. Saheb later served as Assistant Director and Deputy Director of Information Technology at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPPNA), Hyderabad. Throughout his career, he held positions as Inspector General (IG) at SBCID, Police Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram Range, Thrissur Range, and Armed Police Battalion. He also served as Additional Excise Commissioner and Director of Kerala Police Academy. He was promoted to the rank of ADGP and served at the Police Headquarters, Vigilance, Crime Branch, Northern Region, and Law and Order departments. He served as the Director of Kerala Police Academy and Jail Superintendent, and also headed the Fire and Rescue Services. His retirement, initially scheduled for 31 July 2024, was extended to 30 June 2025 due to his appointment as DGP.
