Shantanu Moitra is an Indian musician known for his diverse musical contributions. He received the National Film Award in 2014 for his music direction in the Telugu film Naa Bangaaru Talli.
He comes from a Bengali family with a musical background; his father was a sarod player who taught him music at a young age.
Shantanu's musical journey began when he bought his first acoustic guitar at the age of ten and led his school band to organize its first rock show in 1982.
Initially working as an advertising executive, Shantanu gained fame for composing the catchy jingle 'Bole mere lips, I love uncle chips' for Uncle Chips.
He subsequently ventured into composing Hindi pop albums and signed his first Hindi film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2002.
Over the years, Shantanu composed for various successful Hindi films like 3 Idiots, PK, and Pink.
In 2008, he made his debut in Bengali cinema and worked on several Bengali films.
In 2018, Shantanu hosted the Bengali television music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla.
Apart from music, Shantanu is passionate about traveling, especially to the Himalayas, where he embarked on a 100-day journey and later documented his experiences in a music series.
In 2021, Shantanu undertook a challenging cycling expedition from Gomukh to Gangasagar, covering approximately 3000 kilometers.
