Sandeep's passion for cricket was influenced by his father's enthusiasm for the game.
He started his cricket journey in Mumbai and returned to Kerala at the age of 16, making his first-class debut four years later.
His first-class debut for Kerala was against Goa on 24 November 2012.
In 2013, he was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore after impressing Virat Kohli as a net bowler.
He faced suspension for three matches during the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy due to dissent.
Sandeep led the wicket-taking charts for Kerala in both the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy.
He switched from playing for Kerala to Tamil Nadu for the domestic cricket season in 2021.
Sandeep was chosen as a net bowler for the Indian team during the series against England and Sri Lanka in 2021, later earning a spot in the T20 matches.
