Sandeep Patil made his debut in the Indian cricket team as an aggressive right-handed batter and a medium pace bowler.
During a test match against Australia in 1981, Patil scored 174 runs after taking a hit on the head by Len Pascoe.
In the 1983 Cricket World Cup, Patil contributed 216 runs to India's victory, playing a critical role.
After retiring from cricket, Patil became a coach for the Indian national team as well as the India 'A' team.
Following the 1983 World Cup win, Patil appeared in a Bollywood movie titled 'Kabhi Ajnabi The'.
