Purnima Pandey is an accomplished Indian weightlifter who has participated in numerous national and international competitions.
She began her sports journey with gymnastics at Kashi Vyayamshala at the age of 10 and transitioned to weightlifting at 17 in 2013 due to limited powerlifting opportunities.
Purnima competed in various championships, including the Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships in 2015 and the Youth National Weightlifting Championships in 2016.
In 2016, she competed internationally in Malaysia and secured the 6th position at the Commonwealth Senior Women Championships.
Representing India, she participated in championships in Japan, achieving notable positions in different weightlifting categories.
Despite personal challenges in 2019, Purnima continued training at a local gymnasium to pursue her weightlifting career.
In 2021, she participated in national and international championships, excelling in the Commonwealth Senior Championships with 8 national records.
Her achievements include setting records in Snatch lift, Clean and Jerk lift, and overall weight category during the Commonwealth Senior Championships.
