Pooja Rani competes in the 75 Kg category as an Indian middleweight boxer.
She was raised in Nimriwali, Bhiwani, Haryana, by a middle-class family.
Enrolling in the Hawa Singh Boxing Academy, Bhiwani, took her approximately a year.
Initially, she kept her boxing aspirations hidden from her father due to concerns about his reaction.
It took her about 6 months to persuade her father to support her decision to pursue boxing.
In 2020, she secured the distinction of being the first Indian to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 75 kg category.
Apart from boxing, she serves as an Income Tax inspector for the Haryana government.
Pooja enjoys traveling, is passionate about fitness, and owns a pet dog named Jerry.
For her significant contributions to boxing, she received the Bhim Award in 2015.
