Neelkanth Ganjoo was an Indian judge at the Jammu and Kashmir high court who was murdered by JKLF terrorists on 4 November 1989.
He was raised in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Neelkanth Ganjoo presided over the trial of Maqbool Bhat in the late 1960s, resulting in Bhat's execution in 1984.
Ganjoo retired in 1984.
On 4 November 1989, he was fatally shot by three terrorists near the high court in Srinagar.
His murder was announced on Radio Kashmir.
His assassination was the second one of a prominent Kashmiri Pandit within a short period.
Earlier in April 1984, Ganjoo’s residence was attacked with a bomb.
His family was deeply affected by his assassination.
In August 2023, the case of his murder was reopened by the State Investigation Agency of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
