Nawab Malik serves as the National Spokesperson and Mumbai President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
He originates from Dhuswa, a village situated near the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh.
His father used to work as a ragpicker in Mumbai's Dongri area.
Nawab Malik has been involved in social reform activities since his college years.
He participated in a protest against a fee increase at the University of Mumbai.
