Narendra, from the village of Koilakh in Bihar's Madhubani, has been passionate about acting since childhood due to the village's theatrical heritage since 1923.
His father and brother were involved in village theatre activities.
Despite his father's wish for him to pursue a career as an IAS officer, Narendra followed his passion for acting and enrolled in a diploma course at Shri Ram Centre.
After moving to Mumbai, he kick-started his career by appearing in numerous ad films and over 150 projects.
In 1996, he emerged victorious in the 'Star Track' competition organized by ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited).
Narendra became well-known for his portrayal of Dr. Hilal Meer in the film 'Haider' (2014) among his various film and TV roles, leading to more significant projects.
His voice bears a strong resemblance to that of actor Parikshat Sahni.
Pankaja Thakur, his wife, formerly held the position of CEO at CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).
He shared a close friendship with Ravi Khemmu, the father of actor Kunal Khemmu and a director.
