Morné Morkel grew up in a cricket-loving family where his father and brothers played cricket at various levels.
He started his first-class career at 19, making a notable debut against the West Indies with two wickets and a score of 44.
During his debut match, Morne bowled 17 no-balls, highlighting his early career struggles.
He was pivotal for the Easterns when they won the CSA 4-Day Domestic Series in 2004-05.
Morkel gained prominence in the 2007 T20 World Cup, achieving impressive statistics and earning recognition.
He and his brother Albie made history by being the first siblings to open the bowling attack in ODI cricket.
In 2008, both brothers were celebrated as South African Cricket Annual Cricketers of the Year.
After his international retirement, Morkel signed a Kolpak deal, continuing to play county cricket.
He secured the purple cap in IPL 2012 as the leading wicket-taker.
