Mominul made his First-Class debut in 2008 for Dhaka Division against Chittagong Division at Fatullah in the National Cricket League.
His List-A debut occurred for Dhaka Division against Barisal Division at Savar in 2009.
Mominul participated in the Bangladesh’s Under-19 squad for the 2010 U-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
His breakthrough performance came during the Bangladesh A team’s tour of the West Indies, where he scored 150 runs in the first match.
Mominul debuted for Barisal Burners in 2012, the first season of BPL.
He scored a half-century in his debut Test innings against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2013 and later achieved his maiden test century against New Zealand.
In 2013, he was honored with a monetary prize of Tk200,000 for his outstanding performances.
Mominul was named captain of the Bangladesh A side in 2015.
He is the fastest Bangladeshi batter to reach the 1000-run milestone in Test cricket, achieving it in 21 innings.
