Meghanathan completed his early schooling in Shoranur and later pursued further education in Chennai, where he lived with his father.

He portrayed Ravi, the brother of the protagonist in the Malayalam film 'Panchagni' (1986), impressively directed by Hariharan.
Despite his film career, he managed a family vehicle repair and maintenance business, as urged by his father to secure a profession due to the film industry's volatility.
Farming was also a deep interest of his, and he balanced this passion with his acting career, purchasing a tractor with his initial earnings.
He gained fame for several villainous roles in Malayalam movies, like Keerikkadan Sunny in 'Chenkol' (1993) and others.
Meghanathan faced serious accidents, leading to significant breaks during the filming of 'Prayikkara Pappan' (1995) and 'Kudamatam' (1997).
He also featured prominently in several popular Malayalam television series such as 'Sthreethwam' and 'Meghasandesham' in 2015.
