Meenatai Thackeray, also known as Meena Thackeray, was married to prominent Indian politician Bal Thackeray, who founded the Shiv Sena party in Maharashtra.
While not directly involved in politics, Meena played a key supportive role in her husband's efforts with Shiv Sena.
She was instrumental in the establishment of the women's wing of Shiv Sena, known as The Mahila Aghadi, which was founded by Bal Thackeray in 1985.
Together, in 1990, Balasaheb and Meenatai initiated the Ramadham Old Age Home near Khopoli, Maharashtra.
