Matthew began his cricketing journey at a young age, encouraged by his father's support.
He requested a red leather ball from his father at the age of 4, which ignited his passion for the sport.
A meeting with South African cricket legend Jacques Kallis at the age of 6 fueled his determination to become a cricketer.
In 2008, he made headlines by scoring 154 runs for his school's Under-10 team against a rival school.
He scored 124 runs for the Under-14 team against the same rival in 2011.
Though he attempted to train as a wicketkeeper, he later decided to abandon this position.
Matthew once played rugby at his high school but chose to focus solely on cricket afterwards.
