Mata Savinder Hardev was born in Delhi to a middle-class Sikh family.
After her birth, her parents moved to Yamuna Nagar, but she was later adopted by her childless relatives in Uttar Pradesh.
She excelled academically, consistently scoring above 90% in all examinations.
Although she started studying at Daulat Ram College in Delhi, she left midway to marry Baba Hardev Singh in 1975.
In 1980, she was titled "Pujya Mata Savinder" when Baba Hardev Singh became the Spiritual Head of the Sant Nirankari Mission.
She succeeded Baba Hardev Singh Maharaj as the Head of the Sant Nirankari Mission in May 2016, being the first woman to hold this position.
Her youngest daughter, Sudiksha, became the 6th Guru of the Sant Nirankari Mission in July 2018.
She was awarded the 'Supreme Spiritual Icon Of The Year' Award in Kolkata in July 2018.
Mata Savinder Hardev passed away on August 5, 2018, at her residence in Sant Nirankari Colony due to a chronic illness.
