Mashrafe enjoyed playing football and badminton, but he favored cricket.
He deactivated his official Facebook fan page because of abusive comments on a photo posted by his teammate Nasir Hossain.
He was once approached for spot-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Although purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL, he played only one match for them.
His Test debut was also his First-Class debut, making him the 31st person in cricket history to achieve this.
In 2009, he decided to retire from Test cricket to extend his limited-overs career due to frequent injuries.
In 2004, Bangladesh secured their first-ever victory against India, with him contributing through a bowling spell and scoring 31 not out, earning him the Man of the Match Award.
He was instrumental in Bangladesh's biggest upset in the 2007 World Cup when they defeated India in Port-of-Spain, and he was declared Man of the Match for his 4 for 38 performance.
