Kharge was once the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
He was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress on 19 October 2022.
Due to communal riots, Kharge's family had to flee their native village when he was seven, settling in Gulbarga.
He lost his mother during these tumultuous times.
Kharge showed interest in politics from a young age.
He held leadership roles in student unions during his college years.
Kharge was actively involved in sports, excelling in hockey, kabaddi, and football.
After briefly practicing law, he entered politics with the INC in 1969.
