L. K. Advani grew up in pre-partition Sindh.
Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Karachi in 1941.
He became a full-time worker for the RSS shortly after joining.
Advani started teaching at the Model High School in Karachi in 1944.
In 1947, he was appointed as the Secretary of RSS in Karachi.
After the Partition of India in 1947, Advani became a pracharak in Rajasthan.
He served in various districts in Rajasthan until 1952.
Advani helped publish the RSS's newsletter and became a national executive member in 1966.
As the BJP president in 1986, Advani guided the party through challenges.
Under his leadership, the BJP played a major role in the Ayodhya dispute.
In 1989, the BJP secured 86 seats in the Lok Sabha, under Advani's guidance.
Advani led several yatras, or journeys, to rally support for various movements.
He is known for his passion for fitness and enjoys walking for exercise.
