Kusal Mendis is a prominent Sri Lankan cricketer known for his batting skills in the early 2020s.
He began playing cricket in school and progressed to represent various teams in domestic cricket.
Mendis led the Sri Lanka Under-19 team in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup.
In his debut test match, he scored 13 runs in the first innings and 39 runs in the second innings.
His first test fifty came with 53 runs against England in May 2016, and his first test century was 176 runs against Australia in July 2016.
During the 2018 calendar year, he took the most catches in test matches and scored 1023 runs with 3 hundreds and 4 fifties.
Mendis achieved his first test double hundred with 245 runs against Ireland in April 2023.
He marked his ODI debut with a half-century of 51 runs and later scored a century with 102 runs against Bangladesh in March 2017.
In the 2019 ODI World Cup, he scored 143 runs in 7 matches, and in the 2023 ODI World Cup, he made 294 runs in 9 matches.
In T20Is, his debut saw him score 21 runs, and he hit his first half-century against Bangladesh with 53 runs.
