Kedarnath Aggarwal (1937-2023) founded Bikanervala and Bikano, being the chairman, and was a renowned Indian businessman who passed away in November 2023.
In his teenage years, he began working at his father’s sweet shop ‘Bikaner Mithai Bhandar’ in Bikaner, opened in 1905. He ventured to Mumbai and Kolkata with his brother before settling in Delhi in 1955, where they sold sweets and bhujia as street vendors.
During his early days in Delhi, he shared an incident about overstaying in the Santlal Khemka Dharamshala with a permission letter from a known person from Bikaner.
After selling on the streets, they opened 'Bikaneri Bhujia Bhandar' in Delhi's Chandni Chowk, later renamed Bikanervala on the advice of their elder brother.
Sweets like Moong Dal Halwa, Bikaneri Bhujia, and Kaju Katli gained popularity, leading to the opening of multiple shops across India and abroad.
In 1988, he launched Bikano to sell namkeens and sweets in airtight packets. The brands partnered with Lehar (PepsiCo) in 1995, overseen by Shyam Sundar Aggarwal and Manish Aggarwal.
By 2023, Bikanervala had over 150 outlets globally, grossing an annual income exceeding Rs 2000 crores.
Kedarnath Aggarwal passed away in Delhi on 13 November 2023, receiving numerous tributes.
To manage demand for Bikaneri rasgullas during festivals, they limited sales to 10 per customer.
He enjoyed travel and purchased a Hindustan Ambassador car in the 1970s.
Apart from his business ventures, he served as a trustee in the Akhil Bharatiya Aggarwal Sammelan.
