Kane Williamson is a successful New Zealand cricket captain who led his team to the 2019 Cricket World Cup finals and was named the Player of the Tournament.
He grew up in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, New Zealand.
Williamson played senior representative cricket at 14 and first-class cricket at 16, attending Tauranga Boys’ College under coach Pacey Depina.
Before leaving school, he had scored nearly 40 centuries.
He excelled in studies, becoming the head boy at his school.
In 2005, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player at a junior secondary schools basketball tournament.
At 17, in 2007, Williamson made his domestic cricket debut for Northern Districts.
In 2008, at still 17, he led the New Zealand Under-19 side to the World Cup semi-final in Malaysia.
