Kamlesh Patel, also known as Daaji, is an Indian spiritual leader, meditation guide, and author. He serves as the fourth president of the non-profit organization Shri Ram Chandra Mission, established in 1945. In 2023, Daaji received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award from the Government of India. Born into an agricultural family, Daaji aspired to be a doctor but faced challenges in pursuing his dream. Despite scoring well in a medical test, he missed out on a seat due to technicalities. His family's restrictions led him to join L. M. College of Pharmacy in Ahmedabad. Daaji eventually excelled and secured admission through a unique circumstance. At 24, he moved to New York City, where he established several pharmacies. With his wife, Daaji raised their sons in New York City as he pursued his professional ventures. Daaji's spiritual journey started early, with his interest in heartfulness meditation sparked during his time as a pharmacy student. His spiritual inspiration comes from Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur, known as Babuji. Daaji met Babuji in 1976, marking the beginning of a significant mentorship. Following the passing of his predecessor, Daaji assumed the role of president in the Shri Ram Chandra Mission. His contributions to the organization have been recognized, leading to his appointment as vice president in 2012. Daaji's efforts primarily focus on the mission's objectives since 2003. He has expanded his outreach, engaging with the United Nations Department of Public Information and establishing the Kanha Shanti Vanam meditation center in Hyderabad. Daaji's writings have been widely published, and he has authored acclaimed books, including "Designing Destiny" and "The Wisdom Bridge." Collaborating with Joshua Pollock, he co-wrote "The Heartfulness Way," a bestseller featured in numerous publications. Daaji's work and influence extend to various platforms, including a radio series and associations with spiritual figures like Baba Ramdev. |
