Kamindu Mendis was introduced to cricket by his passionate father.
He began practicing with both arms at around the age of 13 and bowled with both arms for the first time in an Under-17 match in 2014.
He made his List A debut on 30 November 2015 against Badureliya Sports Club.
Mendis captained Sri Lanka’s U19 team in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
He debuted for Colombo in T20 on 21 August 2018, taking a wicket in the match.
He made his first-class debut for Tamil Union on 30 November 2018.
In November 2019, he was appointed vice-captain for Sri Lanka’s squad in the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Mendis participated in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
