Some Lesser Known Facts

Ian Cardozo was the first NDA cadet to earn both the silver and gold medals in the academy.
He was the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade.
At the age of 34, his battalion attacked the soldiers with kukris, killing about 32 soldiers of a Pakistani company.
Ian Cardozo took the decision to amputate his own leg after stepping on a land mine during the 1971 war.
He retired from the Army as the Chief of Staff of a corps in Assam.
Ian Cardozo is also an author and a marathon runner.
