Hima used to play football before switching to sprinting.
Her decision to focus on sprinting was influenced by her school physical education teacher, Shamsul Hoque.
Nippon, her coach, discovered her talent during an inter-district meet.
Despite wearing inexpensive spikes, Hima won gold in the 100 and 200 meters races.
Encouraged by her coach, Hima moved to Guwahati to pursue athletics.
