Some Lesser Known Facts

Firhad Hakim’s family moved from the Gaya district of Bihar to Kolkata before his birth.
His political career began in the late 1990s when he was selected as a councillor for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
On June 16, 2017, he became the chairman of the Tarakeswar Development Board.
He made history as the first Muslim to be elected as the Mayor of Kolkata post-independence in 2018.
Upon his election as Mayor, he introduced a WhatsApp number for residents to report complaints.
On May 7, 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Administrators at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, serving until December 2021.
In July 2021, he took on dual roles as Chairman of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) and the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA).
He has actively participated in organizing the Chetla Agrani Durga Puja committee.
