  • The United Nations declared Dawood Ibrahim a 'Global Terrorist' in 2003. He was known to have ties with Al Qaeda and had provided financial support to groups such as Lashkar-e-Tayiba.
  • He is believed to control much of India's hawala system. According to reports, Dawood invested USD 5 billion in Dubai to establish a transnational crime-terror organization offering financial services to prominent criminal groups and terror organizations.

Dawood Ibrahim is an Indian gangster, known for his involvement in the 1993 Bombay bombings and as the leader of D-Company, an international crime syndicate.
He dropped out of school due to financial issues and started a small gang engaged in smuggling and violence.
With his brother, Dawood established a gang in 1970 that grew into D-Company, one of the largest crime syndicates globally.
He learned combat skills from his mentor Khalid Khan, also known as Khalid Pehelwan.
In a show of strength, Dawood's gang pulled off one of Bombay's biggest bank robberies by stealing a courier that contained money intended for a bank.
After a gang war led to the death of his brother, Dawood became the uncontested leader of Bombay's underworld.
He was implicated as one of the masterminds behind the 1993 Bombay bombings.
