David Willey admired his father and aspired to emulate him while growing up.
His academy coach once doubted his skills, motivating him to work hard and prove his coach wrong.
David Willey began his professional cricket career at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and debuted against Leicestershire in 2009.
Initially, he played as a lower-order batsman with a talent for swinging the new ball.
In his second first-class match, Willey took his first wicket by bowling Phil Edwards LBW.
His standout performance in the Friends Life T20 competition in 2012 saw him take 43 wickets for Northamptonshire.
After overcoming an injury, he made a successful comeback to his home county in 2014.
Willey marked his ODI debut against Ireland in May 2015 with a century for Northamptonshire in the Natwest T20 Blast against Sussex.
He later moved to Leeds and played for Yorkshire in all three cricket formats.
