Bishan Singh Bedi, born in 1946, was a standout Indian cricketer known for his spin bowling skills.
He was a part of the esteemed Indian spin quartet alongside Prasanna, Venkataraghavan, and Chandrasekhar in the 1960s and 70s.
Bedi began his cricket journey at the age of thirteen after being inspired by a radio commentary of India playing West Indies.
His international test debut was in 1966 against West Indies.
He achieved his highest test score of 50 against New Zealand in Kanpur in 1976.
Bedi took on the role of the national team captain in 1976.
He played for Delhi until retiring in 1981.
In 1990, he coached and managed the Indian cricket team.
Bedi also delved into acting, appearing in the film 'Ghoomer' in 2023.
On 23/10/2023, he passed away after a prolonged illness.
