He grew up in a household where Urdu was spoken and learned the language in his home. His passion for writing began in his teenage years, drawn to the allure of the film industry, prompting his move to Mumbai at nineteen in 2002 to pursue a career in writing.
In 2003, shortly after relocating to Mumbai, Turaz secured a writing opportunity for a television show and later contributed to various programs such as 'Lady Inspector Renuka' and 'Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka.'
Over time, he established himself as a renowned songwriter, creating memorable songs for blockbuster films like 'Guzaarish' (2010), 'Bajirao Mastani' (2015), 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' (2022), and more.
Some of his famous compositions include 'Kabhi Jo Badal Barse,' 'Ghoomar,' 'Binte Dil,' 'Khalibali,' 'Bhula Diya,' and 'Jab Saiyaan.'
Turaz actively participates in poetry shows worldwide and published a collection of poems titled 'Lamhe' in 2014. He admires the legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi and shares a supportive friendship with model and actress Arjumman Mughal, offering care and support during her challenging times.
In interviews, Turaz appreciates Bollywood directors, particularly praising Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his historical and grandeur films. He has been involved in committees like CBFC and GMVSS, Delhi.
Expressing concern over the lack of recognition for lyricists and writers in the industry, Turaz remains optimistic for a change, hoping creative professionals will receive the acknowledgment they deserve. In July 2023, he appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show, a popular comedy show.
