SV Bhatti is a Judge of the Supreme Court of India. |
Before serving on the Supreme Court, he held the position of Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. |

Justice Bhatti joined the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh on 21 January 1987 and started his legal practice in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad. |
He took on various roles, such as being the standing counsel for organizations like Hindustan Shipyard and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). |
Specializing in environmental laws, he also had interests in civil laws, labor and industrial laws, and constitutional matters. |
On 12 April 2013, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. |
During his time as a judge in the Kerala High Court, Justice Bhatti gave noteworthy judgments on a range of subjects including tax deductions for nuns and the regulation of lottery ticket sales. |
He chaired the Kerala High Court Legal Services Committee. |
From 1 June 2023 to 13 July 2023, he served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. |
On 14 July 2023, Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and SV Bhatti were sworn in as Supreme Court judges, enlarging the top court's working capacity to 32. |
Justice Bhatti previously held the position of President of the Board of Governors of the Kerala Judicial Academy. |
His retirement is scheduled for 5 May 2027. |
