Some Lesser Known Facts

Juan Mata developed a love for football at a young age due to his father, Juan Manuel Mata Rodríguez, who played professionally for Burgos CF when he was just 5 years old.
He played for local teams La Fresneda and Juventud Estadio in his early years.
Starting his training at Real Oviedo in 2000, he later moved to La Fábrica, Real Madrid's youth academy, in 2003, progressing through various youth teams and eventually playing for Real Madrid Castilla.
Mata was part of the Spanish team in the 2006 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, where he scored 4 goals in 5 matches, contributing to Spain's victory in the tournament.
In March 2007, Mata signed with La Liga club Valencia CF, where he was instrumental in winning the 2008 Copa Del Rey Trophy.
His success continued in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where he played a key role in Spain's triumph, marking the country's first-ever World Cup win.
Mata made a transfer to Manchester United in January 2014.
In August 2017, he began donating 1% of his salary to the charitable initiative Common Goal and encouraged fellow footballers to do the same.
He pursued a diploma in football leadership and management from UEFA between 2021 and 2022.
After signing with J1 League club Vissel Kobe in September 2023, Mata departed the team following the expiration of his contract on 6 January 2024.
In November 2023, Mata joined the investment group associated with Formula One's Alpine Racing team.
