Jagdeep Dhankhar is a former BJP politician and lawyer.
He served as the 28th Governor of West Bengal.
In July 2022, he was chosen as a Vice-President electoral candidate by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In August 2022, he assumed the office of the Vice President of India.
After completing his B.Sc LLB in 1979, he started practicing law as an advocate in Rajasthan.
On 10 November 1979, he was enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of Rajasthan.
In 1987, he became the President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, making him the youngest President of the Bar association of Rajasthan.
In 1988, he joined the Janata Dal (JD) to begin his political career.
He contested the 9th Lok Sabha elections in the same year from the Janata Dal and was elected as a member of parliament from Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district.
He was an MP till the end of 1991.
