Rana is a right-handed batsman and sometimes bowls right-arm medium pace.
At the age of eight, his father took him to Malhotra’s Sankalp Cricket Academy in Sonipat, Haryana.
His coach, Sanjeev Malhotra, was impressed by his straight and drive shots.
At 16, Rana made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2015, scoring 80 runs against Delhi, with Virender Sehwag scoring 147 in the same match.
Playing first-class cricket, Rana learned from experienced players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Jayant Yadav, and Amit Mishra.
He scored his first century of 149 against Rajasthan in first-class cricket.
In October 2015, he achieved a career-best score of 157 against Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
Despite being a top contender for the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup, Rana had to withdraw due to a dengue diagnosis during the camp in Kolkata.
