Abu Azmi is an Indian politician and a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
He represents the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency in Maharashtra, located in the Mumbai Suburban District.
Abu Azmi is a member of the Samajwadi Party and serves as the President of the party’s Maharashtra state branch.
In 1995, Abu Azmi joined politics and led the Samajwadi Party (SP) to win two seats in the Maharashtra state assembly.
During his first election in 2004, Abu Asim Azmi lost to Yogesh Patil of the Shiv Sena in the Bhiwandi constituency in Maharashtra.
Abu Azmi holds the distinction of being the only MLA from Maharashtra to have won 2 seats simultaneously in one election.
