Bhaichung Bhutia does not smoke.
He joined the Boys Club in Gangtok at age 14 where his uncle Karma Bhutia was the chief coach.
Bhutia trained in football at Sikkim’s Tashi Namgyal Academy before moving to SAI Gangtok. He was awarded the best player in the 1992 Subroto Cup.
On April 15, 2000, he made history as the first Asian Player to score a goal in an English professional game.
India won various titles and championships under his captaincy.
In 2009, Bhutia emerged as the champion of the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'.
He founded the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools in Delhi on October 28, 2010, in collaboration with Carlos Queiroz and Nike.
