Athar excelled as a student since his school days.
He received the ‘Best Young Scientist’ award in 2007 at the National Children’s Science Congress.
Athar secured the 2nd rank in the Civil Services Examination (UPSC 2015) in his first attempt.
He recommends the book 'Concrete Economics: The Hamilton Approach to Economic Growth and Policy' for IAS aspirants.
Athar met Tina Dabi at the IAS felicitation ceremony in Delhi, and they fell in love during their training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration.
During their training, they traveled to Netherlands, Paris, and Rome.
He preferred the Jammu & Kashmir cadre but ended up with the Rajasthan cadre due to allocated vacancies in J&K.
