Controversy | - In 2012, Avinash and Mohammed Shahid from Kerala were held by police for fabricating school and degree certificates. Operating through entities like Dreams Career and Navabharath Education and Research Foundation, they deceived numerous students by providing counterfeit degree certificates. The duo forged certificates from prestigious institutions including Dr B. R. Ambedkar University in Agra, Chhattisgarh University, Dr. C. V. Raman University in Bilaspur, SSCL Board in Karnataka, Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut, Bharathiya Shiksha Parishad of UP, Jamia Millia the University of Sikkim, Central Board of Open School Education of Meerut, Vinayaka Mission University of New Delhi, STED Council of Thiruvananthapuram, EIILM University of UP, and CMJ University of UP. They also provided fake migration certificates. Running this operation for ten years, they charged fees ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 based on the course. The police arrested them from the Dream Career office in Bendoorwell and the Navabharat Education Research Foundation office on MG Road. The universities and boards they claimed affiliation to denied any connection to them. The police seized 70 certificates, 2 computers, Rs. 1 lakh, credit cards, 8 mobile phones, two laptops, a scanner, and a colour printer. Cases were registered under Sections 468, 471, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
