Arvind Singh, an Indian rower, has a successful track record in national and international rowing competitions.
Before discovering rowing, Arvind played cricket as an all-rounder during his teenage years until his selection into the Indian Army.
Selected for the Indian Army in 2013 on his 5th attempt, Arvind joined the Army rowing team in 2016 due to his athletic physique, training at the Army Rowing Node in Pune.
Teaming up with Arjun Lal Jat, Arvind competed in the Men’s Light Weight Double Scull (LM2X) category in various 2000-meter races.
Their collaboration saw them secure 11th place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, participate in the 18th Asian Games and clinch a silver medal in the 19th Asian Games in 2023.
Arvind maintains a rigorous training routine, including three daily sessions totaling 7.5 hours, alongside strength exercises and ergometer training, adhering to a diet that excludes fried foods and sweets, with Sundays reserved for parathas.
In a remarkable display of dedication, Arvind once ran 20 kilometers to shed one kilogram and meet the 70 kg weight limit for a tournament.
Due to his exceptional sporting accomplishments, Arvind was swiftly promoted to Naib Subedar – ahead of his elder brother within the Indian Army.
