Some Lesser Known Facts

Diego began his gymnastics journey at the age of seven, inspired by his sister Daniele.
He triumphed in the floor exercise at the 1997 Brazilian National Championships during his childhood.
At just 15 years old, he secured three gold medals during his initial participation at the Brazilian Championship.
By the time he was 21, he had already competed in multiple World Championships.
Diego was one of only three Brazilian males competing in artistic gymnastics at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In 2014, he came out to his family as gay, which was a challenging moment for him.
Post-retirement, Diego and his sister showcased their skills in various dance and reality shows.
In 2019, he publicly came out as gay and expressed a desire to do so earlier but prioritized his sports career.
Since 2022, he has been a part of the circus show 'Abracadabra'.
A skill on floor exercise is officially named after him, known as 'Hypólito on floor'.
