Sharath Lohithaswa liked cricket and theatre as a child. He once acted as Bhagat Singh on stage when he was in school.
He read many plays by writers like Kambar and enjoyed singing in his childhood.
Sharath Lohithaswa used to watch many theatre play rehearsals with his father.
He acted in many stage and radio plays before starting professional theatre in Bengaluru.
After completing school, his father suggested he study English in college.
After college, Sharath Lohithaswa worked as a lecturer at National College in Bangalore for some time.
He later got bored with his teaching job and became a full-time actor, starting with stage performances. He acted in plays like Vasamsi Jirnani and Nanna Thangige Ondu Gandu Kodi.
His first film role was a small appearance in M. S. Sathyu’s non-commercial film.
The 1977 film Godhuli was a breakthrough in his career. He received the Aryabhata award for his portrayal of Cheluvanayaka in the film and was highly praised.
In 1996, he appeared in his debut Kannada film ‘Huliya’ in which he had a funny haircut.
