She used to take part in her local church’s fancy dress competitions for Christmas and Easter. She used to choose a character from The Bible and prepare for the show. |
After studying Bharatanatyam, Sheela began acting in the short films of Kalaignar TV’s reality show titled ‘Naalaya Iyakunar.’ |
In 2014, she got the chance to star in a telefilm, however; it was never released but that’s when she met her ex-husband Thambi Chozhan for the first time as he was the director and an acting coach for that film. |
Her family did not agree to her and Thambi’s wedding which made the couple went through tough times before finally deciding to shift to Chennai. |
After she moved to Chennai to increase her acting experience, she joined the Tamil theatre group named ‘Koothu-P-Pattarai.’ |
In 2017, Sheela Rajkumar was cast in the Tamil drama film titled ‘To Let’ in which she played the character of Amudha. |

In the same year, Sheela Rajkumar was cast in the Tamil soap opera titled ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magal’ in which she played the character of Poongkodi, however, she was replaced in 2019 by the Tamil actress Sathya Sai Krishnan. The series was telecast on Zee Tamil. |
